Who We Are

Mi Casa, Su Casa

The Blu House is a boutique, home-like environment situated 2.5 miles from the Bexar County Courthouse in San Antonio, Texas. We specialize in nurturing reunification visitation for families experiencing drug-related issues, mental and emotional challenges, and complex custody situations.

We serve parents separated from their children, including cases involving newly discovered parentage. Our facility operates as an intimate, home-like space featuring positive communication practices, developmental activities, reading habits, and family traditions — because we believe the environment itself can begin the healing process.

Every program and every interaction at The Blu House is guided by trauma-informed principles. We meet families where they are — not where we wish they were.

Our Founder

Laura Winget-Hernandez

Founder & Executive Director

A family law attorney with two decades of experience, Laura founded The Blu House after recognizing a critical gap in services for families navigating custody and reunification challenges.

Through her legal practice, Laura saw firsthand that parents — particularly fathers — often needed more than just court-ordered visits. They needed training, mentorship, and opportunities to develop more dynamic and positive relationships with their children.

Her approach is grounded in research showing that strong parent-child attachments support children's emotional and psychological development — and that the right environment and support can make all the difference.
